Hello, I went to …
Hello, I went to many, many doctors because of my gout. Every doctor had a different thing to avoid or get more of. One family practice doctor came clean and admitted he just didn’t know as much about it as he should. Here’s what I found. Too much red meat, shrimp, nuts, and beer. The darker the beer the worse it is. What is life without beer. Sometimes I think breathing gives me the gout. I wonder if the acid crystals build up in the kidneys and then attack, or do they collect in the joint slowly?

I can’t figure out …
I can’t figure out why my M.D. told me to stay away from bananas. He told me that bananas have too much potassium and even a small amount will give me a gout attack. He also told me that no one should ever need a supplement of vit. C if they eat right. Is he wacky or just not as smart as a nutritionist?

…gout can cause …
…gout can cause calcium oxalate Or uric acid stones. The latter of which are rather soluble with bicarbonate or citrate, the latter of which is found in lemon juice. Bicarbonate is found in baking soda, but sodium is actually a risk factor for stones as sodium will excrete calcium. Look for potassium bicarbonate instead. It will treat gout too by increasing uric acid solubility. Citrate will also change the pH; 6-6.5, so lemon juice should dissolve gout too.

Excess Vitamin C, …
Excess Vitamin C, such as from supplements, can allegedly convert to oxalate which is a risk factor for calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis, as is gout, via increased uric acid supersaturation of the urin which promotes kidney stone formation.
