Could someone who knows about nutrition, and vitamins tell me if my list of vitamins looks ok (inside)?

February 6th, 2010

1 Men’s health formula multi vitamin tablet,
1 D-3 400 IU tablet,
2 100 mg. Korean Ginseng capsules,
1 Cranberry Fruit 1,500 mg. soft gel which also contains vitamin C,
1 Folic Acid 400 mcg. tablet,
1 C vitamin 500 mg.

And I also drink a small amount of apple cider vinegar each morning. And I drink a very small amount of extra virgin olive oil, a very small amount of it.

I also drink a cup of kava kava tea every day, and I’m thinking about drinking some chamomile tea.I also eat a banana for break fast, and usually a hamburger for lunch with cheese and mayonnaise on it. I’m trying to lose weight. Some times I also drink a diet poweraide that is supposed to have all the vitamin B complex in it. And I drink plenty of water.

Does this sound healthy? And can you give me any tips on dieting? I want to eat more leafy greens like spinach because I’ve heard they are one of the best things to include in your diet. I also sometimes but some lemon juice in my ice water, but I don’t have any at the time.

I’m on some psychotropic medication, and one anti depressant, and a muscles relaxer, and ultram for back and knee pain. But it’s not a controlled substance yet. And I take all of my medication like I’m supposed too. I’m just wanting to make sure my liver, kidneys and heart are healthy.

You may want to check about the interactions of some herbal supplements with your medicines, i.e. ginseng and especially kava kava.
As we all know some of our medicines can make weight loss almost impossible so I hope you have good luck with that.
One thing I do take that you may benefit from is fish oil 1000mg gels. It helps heart health, lowers triglycerides and is full of omega 3, which by the way spinach has as well and perhaps you are craving it.
Everything else you take sounds very healthy.

Do Vitamin supplements work?

Getting The Combination
At one time you would have had to buy the nutrients I recommend individually. However buying the nutrients separately is expensive, and tiresome, so a combination brand can be a better buy.

Combination Brands
There are two manufacturers offering a formula that I think qualifies as comprehensive: the Uni-Vite NutriShield brand and Solgar Advanced Formula.

The Solgar Advanced Formula is among the best of the retail brands. NutriShield is more advanced as it incorporates all the nutrients that I think are important, including betaine, glucosamine, lycopene, Q10 and Omega 3 fish oil – which Solgar omits.

You can find NutriShield on www.nutrishield.com

Solgar Advanced Formula is available at specialist health food shops.

how long can a human survive on a an all liquid diet with nutrition and vitamins?

February 2nd, 2010

Considering where you posted this I’m going to assume that you’re not interested in the scientific aspects of this but rather how you ~*lo0se wEighT FaSt*~.

You’d probably make it one day (or less) and feel horrid. Vitamins on an empty stomach will make you nauseous and maybe even throw up. They also are fat soluble so your beverage would have to have fats in it otherwise it would be a waste and just pass right through your body. Needless to say – if you’re trying to lose weight fasting isn’t the way to go. You either won’t lose anything, or you’ll gain it back because you would more than likely end up binging after-wards. Your body WILL go into starvation mode and hold on to everything. Since your metabolism will be so slow by the time you’d be done it would really just be a waste.

However if you’re interested it’s estimated 8 weeks without food and just water, though people have died before then and people have survived longer than that. It depends on their previous health and environment.

Also there are people who are in comas and have been for years who are tube fed, and surely you know that comas can last for years. So indefinitely – but you would have to actually know what you are doing and it would not be ideal for someone who isn’t a vegetable.
